Who is Piti Fernández
Piti is Juan Germán Fernández, singer and songwriter of Las Pastillas del Abuelo, one of the big names of Buenos Aires "rock barrial", the neighbourhood rock scene. According to his official biography, he went to Escuela Mariano Acosta, supports Club Atlético Huracán and lists Joaquín Sabina, Indio Solari and Sumo's Luca Prodan among his influences.
The band broke through online with "El Sensei", one of the most downloaded songs of its time, and recorded its first album, Por colectora, in 2005. Their music mixes rock with reggae, murga, candombe and chacarera, with lyrics about friendship, the barrio and everyday life. According to the promoter, the band recently played a stadium show for more than 40,000 people in Argentina. Piti also acted in the film Motín en Sierra Chica (2014).
In Australia he performs with backing musicians and a full sound and lighting production, the promoter says. It is his Australian debut.
