After more than a decade, VIDA Latin Festival is changing address. The 2026 edition, now called VIDA Melbourne Latin Summer Festival, moves to Yarraville Gardens in Melbourne's west on Saturday 5 December, from 2pm to 10pm.
The organisers, Casablanca Events, describe it as a new home with a bigger experience. They are the same team behind Fiesta del Sol, the St Kilda Latin Festival and the Australian Salsa Festival, along with Love Reggaeton Festival and Arriba! Mexican Festival.
Who is playing
The festival lists three headliners:
- Sorbo Amplio, a high-energy cumbia band.
- Del Barrio, a salsa orchestra with a New York Latin sound.
- Gaira, a tribute to Carlos Vives with vallenato straight from Colombia.
Around them there are more than 100 artists, Latin DJs, dancers and performers, plus parades and dance lessons. There is food, art and activities for kids, and a licensed Sangria & Margarita Garden for adults.
If you cannot wait until December, Del Barrio also plays LATIDO at The Grand Room in South Yarra on Friday 20 November. It is listed on our events page.
Tickets
Tickets are sold on Humanitix. The pre-sale tiers are sold out. At the time of writing, these are the early bird prices (plus booking fees):
- General admission: $24.99
- VIP Chill Zone: $89.99, with bean bag seating, a clear view of the stage, private bar access and VIP toilets
- Students: $19.99, with student ID
- Children 12 and under: $14.99
Anyone over 12 needs a general ticket, and all minors must be with a responsible adult. There is a happy hour from 2pm to 4pm, so arriving early pays off.
Getting there and what to bring
Yarraville Gardens is at 139-147 Hyde St, Yarraville. The festival site says it is about 15 minutes from the CBD and asks people to come by public transport, on foot or by bike.
The organisers expect a hot day. Their own list:
- Sunscreen and a hat.
- A rug to sit on, since there is plenty of open space.
- Stay hydrated. There will be a hydration station.
- Use the bins provided for your rubbish.
Eat in the west before or after
The inner west has plenty of Latin food, and several places are a short trip from the gardens:
- Village Cantina Yarraville and Hotel Mexico both serve Mexican food in Yarraville.
- SÚPERCHIDO in Seddon does Mexican street food, with tacos al pastor and churros.
- In Footscray, Papelón and Mecato both serve Latin American food.
