Latinhood is based in Melbourne, Victoria. This policy explains what personal information we handle and why, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Questions or requests: use the Contact page.
Account: your email address and name. If you sign in with Google, the name, email and profile photo Google shares with us. If you enter a giveaway, the phone number and Instagram handle you give us.
What you add: Market listings (including the contact details and photos you include), business submissions, claims and edits, and messages you send us.
Membership: your plan, its status and billing dates. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store them.
Use of the site: pages and items viewed, searches, saved items and how long sections are read, plus device type, language and approximate location (state or city) you choose or that we infer.
From public sources: business details from Google and businesses' own public pages, and Market listings shared from public Latin community groups on Facebook and WhatsApp, which can include the poster's name, profile link, phone number and the group they posted in. If a shared listing is yours and you want it removed, tell us and we will take it down.
To run Latinhood: sign you in, show and save what you choose, provide member deals, process memberships, and review content before it is published.
Some of that review, and the automatic translation of listings and events between English and Spanish, is done by AI models from OpenAI, which receive the text of the post (not your account details).
To email you: sign-in codes, receipts and account messages always; deals, events, giveaway and news emails only as set in Settings → Notifications, and every one carries an unsubscribe link.
To understand and improve the site, and to keep it safe from spam, scams and abuse. We do not sell your personal information.
Contact details on Market listings are shown only to signed-in users. Your name appears on listings you post.
We use service providers who process data for us: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Cloudflare (photo storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), PostHog and Google Analytics (analytics), Meta (advertising measurement, only with your consent), OpenAI (content review and translation), Google (sign-in and place information) and Esri (map tiles your browser loads). Some of them store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We share with them only what they need to provide their service.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect people from harm or fraud.
We advertise Latinhood on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and may on Google. To know which ads work, we record the campaign link you arrived from (utm tags, ad click ids, the first page you opened) in a first-party cookie, lh_attrib, for 90 days, and save it on your account when you join.
Only if you allow ad cookies: the Meta Pixel runs in your browser, and when you join, start or complete a membership, add or claim a business or post a deal, we tell Meta about that event from our server (Meta Conversions API). We send your email and account id only as one-way hashes, plus your IP address, browser type and Meta's own cookie ids, never your name or the content of what you post. Meta uses it to measure and improve our ads under its own privacy policy. If you choose “Only necessary”, none of this is sent and the Pixel never loads. You can change your choice at any time from the Cookie policy.
If you pay while ad cookies are allowed, the campaign, your browser type and IP address travel with the payment in Stripe so the purchase can be counted once the payment clears.
We use a few cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and city, and measure how the site is used. PostHog stores an anonymous id in your browser's local storage; if you are signed in your name and email are attached so we can support you. The Cookie policy lists every cookie and what it does.
Sign-in codes and passwords are stored only as hashes. Your session is kept in a secure cookie that scripts cannot read, with a backup copy some browsers need. Access to personal data is limited to the people who run Latinhood.
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time from Me → Settings: your profile details, saved items and preferences are erased, your Market listings are taken down, and every session ends. We keep payment records for as long as tax law requires (generally five years), no longer linked to your name on our side. The Delete your account page has the details.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, through the Contact page. We reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handled a privacy matter, tell us first; if it is not resolved you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
